how the meter works
the agent runs on Claude, and every itinerary costs real tokens. we meter the three operations that hit the model — everything else is free, always. allowances reset on the 1st of each month.

one click of "find the road". the agent resolves your destination into candidate cities, pulls real hotel, cost, and weather data for each, and writes the full day-by-day itinerary. a failed run that returns an error does not count.
planning pauses until the 1st of the next month (utc), when allowances reset. add your own anthropic key in settings and the limits disappear immediately — or wait for pay-as-you-go, landing soon.
paste an api key from console.anthropic.com into settings. we verify it with a one-token test call, encrypt it at rest (aes-256-gcm), and never display it again — only the last four characters. every plan, refine, and import then runs on your key and your anthropic account, so nothing counts against our free tier. a typical full trip costs you roughly $0.15–0.40 in tokens.
keys are encrypted with a server-side secret before storage and are never sent to your browser after saving. remove it in settings anytime with one click — you drop back to the free tier instantly.
no. a 30-day, three-country route is still one trip plan. longer trips use more tokens, which matters if you bring your own key (maybe $0.40 instead of $0.15) — on the free tier and pay-as-you-go it makes no difference to you.
stripe billing is next on the roadmap. rates are posted above and metering is already live, so your usage history will be accurate from day one. until then, the free tier and byok cover everything.
